B12 Injections

B12 shots bypass the stomach and absorb right into the blood stream. This is ideal for individuals who have nutrient absorption issues, such as those with gut inflammation, celiac or crohn’s disease, elderly individuals and those with low HCL (stomach acid required for absorption).

Low levels or B12 deficiency can cause fatigue, weakness, heart palpitations, shortness of breath, anemia, constipation, diarrhea, loss of appetite, numbness or tingling in the hands and feet and muscles weakness.

B12 is naturally found in animal products and is not found in plants foods except for those that have been fortified such as cereals and alternative milk products. Therefore, individuals who adopt a vegan and vegetarian diet must supplement with B12.

*B12 injections are covered by most extended health benefits under Naturopathic Medical Services.
